the 90's are back

Love it or hate it, 90’s fashion seems to be back in the limelight. Baggy jeans, cargo pants, chunky sneakers… oh my! As a millennial, I’m completely thrilled. The 90’s provided a bit more comfort with the loose and baggy styles. I’m guiltily of rocking skinny jeans for a majority of my life and I’m happy to report I can breath easy again, literally. Fashion is cyclical and perhaps these items are resurfacing due to nostalgia or purely because they are just so darn comfy. In this blog post, I’ll be listing some 90’s inspired items to keep your eyes out for in 2024.

PUFF VESTS OR JACKETS

In Colorado, the puffer never really went out of style. They provide a lot of warmth and it basically feels like you’re wearing a sleeping bag around. Recently, I’ve seen a lot of puffer coats in streetwear and being worn by hip-hop artists like Tyler, the Creator… Brad Pitt was even caught in 2024 sporting a neon orange puffer jacket. Dig the Puff? Check out this Columbia Pike Lake Vest, features below:

  • 100% polyester, Strom-lite DP II

  • Lining: 100% polyester, Omni-HEAT™ thermal reflective micotex light

  • Thermarator™ insulation

  • Water-resistant fabric

  • Interior security pocket

  • Zippered hand pockets

  • Drawcord adjustable hem

  • Embroidered Columbia logo

Boat tote

The LL bean tote has been popular for decades, but has been resurrected, again. You can thank Tik-Tok for this viral bag. LL Bean reported a 35% increase in sales since January of 2024 and it’s not uncommon to see fashion influencers or celebrities carrying this tote. Over the years, we’ve seen celebs like; Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon, or Gwyneth Paltrow sporting these totes. It will likely always remain a classic because it’s durable and provides ample storage. Making it great for road trips or weekend trips. To the left is an alternative option that can be branded with your companies logo at a fraction of the cost from the name brand LL bean tote, specs below:

  • 19.75"W X 13.25"H X 7" Bottom Gusset

  • Nautical Cotton Canvas

  • 18oz Bag With Self Contrasting Handles

  • Front Pocket

  • 24" Reinforced Self Handles

windbreakers

Windbreakers are another popular tend in streetwear in 2024. Both Kayne West and Rihanna have been seen wearing them in 2024 and as we get into the warmer month I’m sure they will continue to raise in popularity. Check out this RAD color blocked option from the brand Nautica, with the below features:

  • Half-zip drawstring hood with mesh liner

  • Size zip for easy wear

overalls

These dickies overalls are what I like to call a twofer. Not only are overalls super trendy but so is the Dickies brand, a lot of workwear brands (in general) are super hot right now. So these dickies overalls check two boxes and also come in a wide variety of sizes. Overalls are also great, because like like all the other items on this list they are super gender neutral.

11.75 oz./yd², 100% Cotton, Fine Weave Denim

  • Large bib pocket with pencil division and watch pocket

  • Double tool pocket

  • Home Wash

In conclusion, the fashion from the 90’s are back rather you’re on board or not. You can continue rocking your skinny jeans, if you prefer… and although most gen-z’s will probably consider them “cringe” I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up becoming widely popular again in the near future. I will probably always think skinny jeans look cool because I think they look punk rock. But I have, personally, embraced the loose baggy style because I find it more comfortable and I found myself not fitting into some of my clothes after lockdown… so I was forced to pivot.
